Christmas Tree Sales  -  2009

Please Note....... The tree sales lot is close to sold out and I have been informed that we are no longer needed to man the lot.  If you are on the schedule to sell trees from Saturday December 19th or later be sure to check with you tribe chief or the YMCA to assure that your are not needed. Thank you all for your time for this worthy cause and have a very merry Christmas!!

Dear Y Guides, Y Princesses and Trailblazers –

The 2008 Christmas Tree Sales season was a huge success! There was a 70%
participation rate and sold all of the trees at the YMCA lot. We even
sold the tree in the library on Christmas Eve that was fully decorated
by the childcare department! During the 2008-2009 winter season there
was 38 inches of snow which was well above average. We had temperatures
well below average with the lowest temperature reaching -29 degrees.
Between the ice storms, snow storms and the -20 and below temperatures
it was the coldest, snowiest winter season in more than a decade. With
all of your help and braving the cold, harsh weather conditions we were
able to help families in the community during these harsh economic
times. The total revenue was $52,000.00 which helped 130 children,
adults and families. Here is the breakdown:

sports classes
preschool programs
day camps
senior citizen memberships
adult aquatic classes
family memberships
adult memberships
youth programs -
Y Guide, Princes and Trailblazer Programs

I do not have a way of tracking exactly how much goes to each program.
The $52,000.00 goes towards all of the programs above. The families are
very thankful that they have a safe place to send their children while
they are at work. Many parents have lost their jobs during these tough
economic times and they are working temporary jobs trying to pay bills
and need somewhere to send their child but cannot afford to do so. There
are single parents with no family members able to babysit their child
and need the support. There are senior citizens that have lost their
social security and looked forward to meeting their friends every
Tuesday morning to play Scrabble and were unable to do so because they
could no longer afford it. There are many different stories from the 130
families and people of the community that you were able to help. I am
not allowed to ask them to come and speak at the Christmas Tree Sales
party but I know that would have made a huge impact if you were able to
see the faces of the people you have helped. In the Fall basketball
program alone I have helped 15 families, in the Fall Flag Football
program we were able to help 8 families. Children were able to attend
summer camps because of your help.

Thank you again for all that you did last year. Also to note that every single tribe is participating this year!!

Thank You for your help. I have attached a letter to send to your members.
